Let’s imagine that the weather here in Chicago is what it should be in almost-July. You know, hot and humid, sunny, no rain… Is everyone imagining?
In Chicago, not even Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men’s One Sweet Day can give outside drinking a run for it’s money for the number one spot on the summer group activity charts! Maybe it has something to do with the fact that in order to get a Chicagoan out of their house during the winter months, you would have to be giving away free PBRs and shots of Jameson in the streets. When the weather does break and the patios open up, people start to come out of the woodwork. The sun might hurt our eyes and our skin will probably burn, but dammit, we are sitting outside and we are drinking!
The Cucumber is a refreshing martini perfect for afternoon sipping. It has the crisp flavor of cucumber courtesy of Effen Vodka, and I must say that they produce the first ever flavored spirit that does not taste like a melted Jolly Rancher. Best of all, the cucumber vodka is paired with an ever-so-popular hangover treatment: coconut water.
See where I’m going with this? It’s a martini that allows you dehydrate and rehydrate all at once!
1.5 oz Effen Cucumber Vodka
2 oz coconut water (not milk!)
Splash of lemon juice
Add all ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake, shake, shake. Strain. Garnish with a cucumber spear.
